So - anyone seen the new Star Trek? And what did you think of it? I've seen it and fallen in love with Spock all over again. He was sexy in '66 and he's sexy now. And I can't help but think that a certain Croatian gent would look very fetching with some pointy ears and those eyebrows.

I'm boycotting it, sorry, out of loyalty to Jimmy Doohan and DeForest Kelley, there will only ever be one Scotty and McCoy. There are just some characters that should never be played by anyone but the original actors, and for me, that is the case with the original Trek.

If they want to do another Trek franchise fine, create original characters, but, leave my Trek alone.

That's a shame because I think the film does a really good job of capturing the original characters. I gradually lost interest in ST as they moved further and furhter from the original.

Of all the characters in the new film I think it's Spock and McCoy that are captured best; Karl Urban as McCoy is really very good indeed.

So I'm pretty content with what they've done with "my" Trek.

I don't know, maybe it's because Jimmy was a friend for so long, and over the years I knew him I had the chance to interact with De (and many of the others) personally as well. I just can't see their characters going to someone else, that said, I'm passing on the film.

Just an FYI "The Princess Bride" celebrated 25 years on Tuesday. Still going strong! My all time favorite movie. I still watch it when I'm "down" just for a little "pick me up"!

You have never seen Ladyhawke? One of the most beautiful love stories on film imho, and with Rutger Hauer as the lead, one of my all time film crushes, be forewarned, you likely will cry.
